Having eluded Tippu Sultan's forces, Doddavirarajendra, a ruler of the Haleri dynasty, commissioned the construction of this palace in the Nalknad region, specifically at Yavakapadi. Renowned for its intricate paintings and carvings, this unassuming palace became the site of Doddaverarajendra's marriage to Mahadevammaji in 1796. As the British forces entered Kodagu, the final emperor of the Haleri family, Chikaverarajendra, sought refuge in this historical abode. Erected between 1792 and 1794 A.D., in close proximity to the village of Yavakapadi, the palace is now under the jurisdiction of the Archaeology Department.
Adjacent to this historical site stands the highest peak in Kodagu, Thadiyandamole, adding to the natural allure of the surroundings.
