Kumbala Curry ( Sweet Pumkin Curry )

Kumbala Curry is a sweet and flavorful curry made with pumpkin, spices, and coconut milk. Here is a recipe for making Kumbala Curry:


  1. 1 large pumpkin, peeled and cut into bite-sized pieces
  2. 1 onion, chopped
  3. 1 tsp of mustard seeds
  4. 2 dried red chilies
  5. 2 garlic cloves, minced
  6. 1 inch ginger, minced
  7. 1 tsp of turmeric powder
  8. 1 tsp of red chili powder
  9. 1 tsp of coriander powder
  10. Salt to taste
  11. 2 cups of coconut milk
  12. 2 tbsp of oil
  13. Rice for serving


In a large pan, heat the oil and add the chopped onions, mustard seeds, dried red chilies, garlic, and ginger. Cook until the onions are translucent.

Add the pumpkin pieces to the pan and cook for a few minutes.

Add the turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt to the pan and mix well.

Pour in the coconut milk and bring the sauce to a boil.

Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for 20-30 minutes, or until the pumpkin is fully cooked and tender.

Serve hot with steamed rice.
