khus khus (poppy seed pyasa)

Ingredients:

  1. 1 cup Jeera Sanna (good variety) Rice
  2. 1½ cups Poppy Seeds
  3. 2 cups Sugar
  4. 2 grated Coconuts
  5. 2 cups Milk
  6. ¼ cup Ghee
  7. 1 pod Cardamom
  8. 10 Raisins
  9. 10 Cashew nuts

Soak rice and poppy seeds separately in water for three hours. Then grind both with grated coconut to a fine paste. Add a little more water when grinding. Strain the finely ground paste and remove the juice. Cook the juice with milk and ghee. Add the raisins and cashew nuts fried in ghee, stirring well all the time.
