Chauthey Pachadi ( Tempered Yoghurt With Cucumber )

Chutney Pachadi is a popular South Indian dish made from yoghurt and cucumber. Here is a recipe for making Chutney Pachadi:

Ingredients:

  1. 2 cups of plain yoghurt
  2. 1 medium cucumber, grated
  3. 1 green chili, finely chopped
  4. 1 tsp of mustard seeds
  5. 1 tsp of urad dal
  6. 1 tsp of chana dal
  7. 2 dried red chilies
  8. A pinch of asafoetida
  9. 1 tsp of oil
  10. Salt to taste
  11. 2 tbsp of chopped coriander leaves

Instructions:

In a large bowl, whisk the yoghurt until it is smooth and creamy.

Add the grated cucumber, green chili, and salt to the yoghurt and mix well.

In a separate small pan, heat the oil and add the mustard seeds. When they begin to crackle, add the urad dal, chana dal, dried red chilies, and asafoetida.

Cook until the dal turns golden brown, then pour the seasoning over the yoghurt mixture and stir to combine.

Garnish with the chopped coriander leaves and serve chilled.
